Pound for pound, player for player, mano e mano, dollars to donuts, there is not a professional sports league in North America that has more hotties than the NHL.  (Or at least, in my opinion there is not.)  So as we get ready for the play-offs, let us take a look at the cool men of the ice.

Daniel Alfredsson – Ottawa Senators – Center

Redhead, very cute.   Nickname “Alfie”, also cute.   Rough style of play, hot.   Really, the only flaw I saw in Daniel is that U2 is his favorite band.

Janne Niinimaa

Montreal Canadians – Defense

Best part of Niinimaa, (other that actually saying “Niinimaa”)?
Googling his name and finding him drinking with Scandinavian metal bands.

Jeff Hoggan

Boston Bruins – Left Wing

You know what I like about you Jeff?  You make sure to mention on your official bio that you are single.  Bravo.

Paul Gaustad

Buffalo Sabers – Center

Someone needs to volunteer to play doctor with Paul.  He sustained a sliced tendon last month, so even though the Sabers are surging, he’s resting on the bench

Ty Conklin

 Buffalo Sabers – Goalie

Listen Ty, I’m not going to lie.  Hockey fans know that 2006 was far from kind to you.  Let’s hope a new start in Buffalo helps you regain your smile.

Andrew Ference

 Boston Bruins- Defense

Andrew, when are you going to reveal that you are Andrew Shue’s long-lost brother?

    Awww, I like U2!

    Also, I’ll take Andrew.

Frankly, it’s just not fair. Most of these guys have such winning smiles because ALL OF THEIR TEETH ARE FAKE! Come on. You take a check head-first into the boards from some 6’3″, 230lbs Enforcer and you’re telling me all your pearly whites are going to stay in place?

At least this portion of the League doesn’t contain any of those pansie franchises like the Atlanta Thrashers or the Miami ‘Canes. Buncha pretty boys…

  3. Did someone say Thrashers? Where are all those Kovy pics from my last NHL preview? Ah… Kovalchuk… :)

  4. Al says:

The Northeast and no mention of Habs D Sheldon Souray??? I’m hetero and even i think he’s hot.

  5. Dan says:

Sens fans are still looking for this “rough style of play” you say Alfie plays with.

  6. The one time I ever saw Alfredsson play in person, he was on fire throwing his body all over the place.

Al – Souray is way too lanky for me.

  7. Disco Stu says:

So, when does the NHL site link to Ladies…? These posts are just about the best thing that Bettman could have going….

  8. Personally, Brian Sutherby of the Capitals is my favorite. I think it’s the hair.

Gaustad would be great if he wasn’t a Sabre…

  9. Ference is an ex-Penguin, so with the Bruins in town Sunday, the puckbunnies in “Ference 7” jerseys were coming out of the woodwork.

  10. I can imagine. I was still in Pittsburgh when Ference was going back and forth with the Wilkes-Barre team, and I seem to remember he had a ton of fans.

(I would have picked Alexei Kolalev for the Northeast, but that would have been the third ex-Penguin I took in two posts and I didn’t want to seem like too much of a homer.)

DC Sports Chick – Sutherby always makes me think of Chad from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

  11. Mark says:

    Ference is an ex-Pengiun?

  12. Michael says:

Hmm.. i see all of them have one thing in common..

each has a square face.. which is quite man-like “:D

  13. Mark – Yes. He was with the Pens and their minor league team before the Flames.

  14. And Michael, I had not noticed that. Interesting.

  15. Nicki says:

I’m so glad someone else recognizes Jeff Hoggan as a sexy beast. I’ve been infatuated with him since I saw him play for the former AHL team the Worcester Ice Cats. So glad he’s not too far in Boston!
