Today in The Music of New Coke, Dire Straits’ “Money for Nothing” from their May 1985 release, Brothers in Arms.
I don’t recall the hubbub around the “I want my MTV” video very clearly, (my mind driven to ADD by the high-fructose in all the New Coke I was drinking at the time, I am sure), but I do remember my father being rather impressed with what, at the time, was its state-of-the-art computer animation.
If you don’t own this record, please click the links above to Amazon, (or if you want, go to iTunes), and buy it. It’s possibly the best release of the New Coke era.
