We made it. 28 Days of Super Bowl Recipes is coming to close for 2012, as well as the first annual Super Bowl Guacamole Extravaganza which was a smashing success. Thanks again to Margrey Shanoff, Alyse, David Roy, Armando, Joshua Rivera, Becky, Dan Rubenstein, Ally and Holly Anderson for pitching in with their guacamole recipes for the project. Not a bad one in the bunch.

I’ve been asked several times today what I am making this weekend so let me in on a little secret; I have no idea.

Really. I don’t know yet. I want it to be easy, so I’m thinking of things I can make ahead of time and that need a lot of time in the kitchen on Sunday. Most likely the Smoky Chipotle Bacon Pimento Cheese, Pressed Italian Sandwiches, Blueberry Salsa and one of the guacamoles, Arugula, Carrot, Olive and Herbed Cheese Provencal Wraps, and maybe Chorizo in Red Wine. Beer (yes, even a High Shirley) and for sure the Lime Sorbet Margaritas which can double as dessert. There is also a rumor we might actually go out to a bar the game, but I doubt it. Well, maybe. If everyone gets their act together and picks a bar with fried pickles I could be tempted to go out.

What am I talking about? My friends are crazy if they think we’re going to a bar this weekend.

If you are still looking for ideas for this Sunday, check out the enormous recipe guide I put together for the cats over at SB Nation. Tons of recipes from all over the web, all coming with my personal recommendation. Or you can pursue the galleries here of all the recipes I’ve posted over the last five seasons or over on Pinterest.

Do you know what you’re making? Let me know the comments. I’m always looking for new ideas for next season. (I also like it when people tell me they are either making for the first time or have made my recipes, so if you have any tips about one of my snacks, please pass them on too.)

Ultimately though, I’m just ready for the game to start. Let’s see who’s going to win this thing.

I’ve already blogged our menu for Sunday, so I’ll just list the dishes I’m most excited about:

scallion meatballs with soy ginger glaze
    Layered Baked buffalo Chicken Nachos
    Krispy Kreme Cupcakes
    – and your spicy spinach & pancetta balls (no more sausage balls!!)

I’ve had those lime sorbet margaritas bookmarked since I first saw them on Pinterest a while back. Such a brilliant idea. Wishing y’all a great party, Sarah!

Yeah, I cannot lie. I eyed up those scallion meatballs something fierce yesterday. Hope they come out great!

Not hosting, so I’m not going all out, but I think I’m doing this:

and definitely this (Primanti’s style…with coleslaw, fries and tomato):

Headin’ up my folks’ for the festivities, and usually, they go all out for Sunday dinner on a normal occasion. They skip it up a notch for the Super Bowl. I may make something to bring up with us, but I wanted to make hummus, and we really don’t have much of a food processor to do that. Ah well.

Not sure yet but I ate Kale for dinner last night in preparation. The things we do.

  5. H says:

Shredded pork sandwiches, jalapeno poppers, pizza-stuffed mushrooms, Buffalo Chicken Dip, Miz Naincy’s minnercheese, IRON FIST guacamole if I can find avocados suitable for the task, corn salad, and beer floats for dessert. 14 of Doug’s coworkers are descending on my house in 29 hours. LET’S GET ROCKED. \m/

BBB! – I think when we get closer to March Madness, I’ll make the Hot Hoagie Dip Yinzer Style. Has to be good.

    TH- Blender.

Sam – Kale? Only in case of zombie apocalypse.

H – Minnercheese! Wonder if Miz Naincy would ever share the recipe.

    • H says:

LIke all great recipes, it doesn’t really have a recipe, but I do have a written-down approximation. She’s stingy with it, but I’ll share it if she gives the OK.

I’m definitely doing your Chipotle Bacon Pimento Cheese, but I’m having trouble deciding in my #2 dish to bring to the party: your Buffalo Chicken Dip (which is ALWAYS a crowd-pleaser) or your Ancho and Guajillo Chile Chicken Enchilada Dip (I already have both anchos and guajillos in my kitchen, and I was looking for an excuse to use them). What a wonderful dilemma to have!
