Today in The Music of New Coke, Howard Jones’ “Things Can Only Get Better” from his 1985 album, Dream Into Action.

Jones’ fun synth-pop with Caribbean drums reached #5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 during the spring of New Coke, a single as light and bubbly as the soda of the era.

(Yeah, I’ve got nothing tonight.  Sorry Mr. Jones, it’s been a long day.  It makes you feel better I have always been a big fan of your work and your producing efforts, and always thought it was cool you were one of the first artists to embrace the internet.  Pretty sure you had a podcast before there was even the term “podcast” in the early aughts.)
