Today’s entry for “The Music of New Coke” is The Firm’s “Radioactive from their eponymous album, The Firm.

It was the first single from the super group, (made up of Paul Rodgers, formerly of Free and Bad Company, Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin, Chris Slade from Uriah Heap and later AC/DC, and Tony Franklin who is just a great bass player), and it spent 15 weeks on Billboards Hot 100, peaking on the charts the week before the release of New Coke.

A strangely up-tempo song considering the musicians involved, but still rock and bluesy enough to stand out from the mid-80’s electro pop which dominated the charts during the New Coke era.
